What percent should I charge to market a medical practice?
I will be hired at a salary, and the "commission" will help augment my earnings.
That depends on how good you are at sales. Assuming you are inexperienced (otherwise you would know what % to charge), See what they offer you as base. Can you live on that? Don’t fall for a proposition where most of your compensation will be based on commission. This is simply a way for companies to reduce their risk.

Could the closure of Marie Curie Cancer Care trigger a full scale thermo-nuclear world war?
If not Marie Curie, what about Oxfam second hand stores? could the closure of these shops lead to mass riots up and down the U.K finally leading to World War III?
What do you think? Is this a good question our governments should be asking themselves?
Should our government be discussing ways to secure peace and harmony in society by helping places like Barnados/Oxfam and the Brirish Heart Foundation second hand junk shops to prevent the danger of a thermo-nuclear war arising through their closure?

What are the chances of our baby having diabetes?
Right now I’m sort of seeing the man I hope to marry and the other day we brought up the subject of babies. We discussing that there may be a high risk if we had children that one of our babies would have diabetes. Diabetes runs in my family and I believe it runs in his. He is a diabetic and I’m not. We figure we are in a very high risk category, but since at this time we’re not married or planning to have kids yet we haven’t asked a doctor. We would both like your opinions and answers.
Is it the SAME Type of diabetes in both families? The genetics for Type 1 and Type 2 are completely unrelated. If one family has Type 1 and the other Type 2, the child is at an increased risk of either form, but it does not "doubly" increase the risk of either in that case. Two different diseases.
Type 2 diabetes does have a strong genetic link. However,in most cases, Type 2 diabetes can be prevented with a healthy diet, maintaining normal weight, and exercise, so it isn’t a huge issue. If his family has a RARE form of Type 2 called MODY, the risk is about 50% of passing it on. In this case, see a genetic counsellor. In most cases, children NEVER have to get Type 2 if they maintain a healthy lifestyle.
If it’s autoimmune Type 1 diabetes you are concerned about (the severe non-preventable kind that always requires insulin), then the risk is usually 2-5% for a mother passing it on, and 7% for a father passing it on. The risk of BOTH parents having Type 1 is about a 30% chance of passing it on. I assume the risk for you would be in the range of 30% up to even 50% if there is a large family history of Type 1 diabtes and other autoimmune diseases, especially on both sides. It’s a bit of a grey area. The risk is much higher than the general population risk for Type 1 diabetes (.5%), but not 100%.
There is a study called TRIGR that is looking at ways to prevent Type 1 in infants at risk. You can ask your doctor or go to their website.
Putting your infant on a gluten (wheat, barley, oats) and casein (cow’s milk) free diet from birth may help delay or prevent Type 1 diabetes in *some* infants. The data is inconclusive on this, but in your case it can’t hurt. In the TRIGR study, infants are fed a special formula in which the whole casein proteins are broken down.
I would also suggest you see a genetic counsellor.

Why are some people opposed to psychiatry and medication?
I’ve been depressed and suicidal for most of my life(2 attempts in high school), but I never got any help because my mom didn’t believe in therapy or medication. She either denied I had a problem or told me to pray on it. So I go far, far away to college, still horribly depressed, but this time I decide to actively search for help. Luckily my campus has a fantastic mental health center, and I was able to set up regular therapy sessions and get medication(turns out I’m bi-polar–mostly hypomanic) with my medical insurance.
I’m pretty sure I would be dead by now if I hadn’t decided to get treated. I sincerely doubt just praying about it or taking herbal suppliments would have solved my problem. Some people actually DO need powerful medication and intensive therapy, so why do some people think psychiatrists are "eevil"?
i suppose a lot of the time ppl dont go to get help because they have to admit they have a problem first… this is the hardest thing to do, especially if it is something that involves your mental state… there is still a stigma attached to ppl who have mental health difficulties and most ppl who do have a problem are scared that if they admit they do, everyone will label them as a headcases… there is alot of good to come from therepy and stuff, but for some ppl it really doesnt help at all…

Are Insulin Resistance and Diabetes the Same?
There are many people who think that insulin resistance and diabetes are one and the same but they are not.
Diabetes
Diabetes is a condition that affects the way your body utilizes food for energy. Normally, the sugar you take in is digested and broken down to a simple sugar, known as glucose. The glucose then travels in your blood where it waits to enter cells to be used as fuel.
Insulin
Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, is what helps move the glucose into cells. A healthy pancreas adjusts the amount of insulin based on the level of glucose. However, if you have diabetes, this process breaks down, and blood sugar levels become too high.
Insulin Resistance
On the other hand, insulin resistance is a silent condition that increases the chances of developing diabetes, and even heart disease. Becoming knowledgeable about insulin resistance is the first step you can take toward making lifestyle changes that will help you prevent diabetes and other health problems.
If a person is insulin resistant, their muscle fat and liver cells do not make proper use of insulin because the cells have a diminished ability to respond to the action of the insulin hormone. Because the pancreas tries to keep up with the demand for insulin by producing more, the process to do so becomes compromised and excess glucose builds up in the bloodstream, since the pancreas cannot keep up with the body’s need for insulin. In essence many people with insulin resistance have high levels of blood glucose and high levels of insulin circulating in their blood simultaneously.
Studies have shown that more people with insulin resistance, go on to develop type 2 diabetes within 10 years. However this can avoided if they lose 5 to 7 percent of their body weight—which is about 10 to 15 pounds for someone who weighs 200 pounds. Hence the importance of a daily exercise regimen; even if it is only a 30 minute walk per day, it helps. Insulin resistance can also occur in people who have type 1 diabetes. This is true especially if they those who are overweight.
Diabetes and Insulin Resistance are Not the Same, But are Related
In essence, diabetes and insulin resistance are not the same but yet are related. There are several factors that determine if one or the other is present in the body and the symptoms for each are slightly different, although you will find that some are the same. Thus the confusion that they are one and the same health challenge.
Symptoms Indicating Possible Risk of Insulin Resistance
Women:
1. Overweight
2. Waist bigger than your hips
3. Buttocks slightly bigger than normal
Men:
1. Overweight
2. Larger stomach
If you are overweight, have a waist that is bigger than your hips, are a woman whose buttocks are slightly bigger than normal, or if you are a man with a rather larger stomach, then you may be at risk for insulin resistance. These are a few of the symptoms of insulin resistance with the weight and waist issues being major reasons to consider your health.
No matter the level, it really is up to every individual to take charge of their health and learn to take more proactive measures to healthier living.
