What is the conservative plan for providing healthcare to those who cannot afford it?

Is this a case of "You don’t have Healthcare because you are poor, minority, lazy, stupid and useless and therefore don’t deserve it?" Why do so many working class people without healthcare not see that their interests are not being served by letting the AMA and insurance companies dictate healthcare reform by making massive donations to conservative politicians and blatantly distorting the truth about the administration’s reform plans?

Um, their plan is called "We don’t give a lick if you get sick".

Conservatives are not notorious for their caring nature. Really, the type of thing you are talking about would require them to have foresight and common sense. They just hear the words "Health Care Reform" and they automatically start spouting all of their anti-socialist crap. They don’t even know what the hell that they are talking about, as well as not being aware that they are shooting themselves in the foot.

The Republican party of the party of mindless idiots if you ask me.

There ain’t one, as you appear to have guessed.

Newsflash to right-wingers: Amount of money does not indicate level of character. If it did, you people wouldn’t have two cents to rub together!

I don’t know any hard working person, friends or family, who are not insured. I do know people who are uninsured. But that is by choice. They choose not to get bogged down by the type of career job that would offer that benefit.

There isn’t one. The only plan they have is to criticize those with the courage to come up with a plan. Kind of like how the only "evidence" for Creationism is purposeful and tactical disinformation and misinformation about Evolution.

EDIT: For all the folks here who don’t want to pay for anyone else’s healthcare- news flash: you’re already doing it. What do you think Medicare and Medicaid are?

Sickblade? You don’t know any hard-working families who aren’t insured? Seriously? There are over a million such families nation-wide. Don’t take my word for it- check the census stats for yourself.

The question you are really asking is: What is the plan for the healthy to pay for the health care for the unhealthy?

To redirect subsidies to go directly to Americans. The uninsured would receive $5000 to invest in a plan of their own choosing, and there would be options for State Health Exchanges, vs. an imposing federal non-option.

This would help the uninsured and protect patient rights.
    Obamacare will hurt everyone.

Just a correction to your disinformation – Pelosi’s campaigns were funded by those "evil" insurance companies.

Why do you think you have the right to steal from me and give it people who won’t work and provide for themselves and their families? Try sticking to the Constitution for once.

We don’t have one. That’s what "conservative" means – it means we don’t believe that some people are entitled to live off of other people. Not adults anyway.

I don’t mind changing regulations, reforming tort law, or really working to reform healthcare in general. However, I prefer the current, flawed system to the government program being proposed by the Dems.

I don’t want government run healthcare, I like my healthcare. I like that if I disagree with them I can seek recourse. Yes, Obama has repeatedly said "You’ll be able to keep the plan you’ve got", but if we’re all forced to pay for the government program, what sense would it make to spend money on a second one?

Also, if you think the conservatives are the only ones taking money from lobbyists, you’ve got another think coming.

there are already 3 proposals from the gop and numerous amendments being shot down by the dems. you should spend at least a little time getting the facts, also while you’re finding the above info, dig a little deeper and find out exactly who is getting corporate donations from whom….you’ll be quite surprised. this info is out there for all to see and is really easy to find !!!!!

Several things. Thanks for allowing me to educate both you and Michael P in NJ.

Tort Reform-Set an amount on pain and suffering, or never put n amount on it like they do in Europe. This would reduce the cost by 1% across the board. You say 1% isn’t a big deal? There’s more to it.Doctors are so scared that they will be sued for malpractice that the use what’s called "Defensive Medicine". Defensive Medicine is where tons and tons of money is spent. This iswhere the octor is so scared of your sprained ankle that they do numerous MRI’s, CT Scans, X-rays…all for a sprained ankle which usually some ice and an Ace bandage would fix. Estimates by cuttig both pain and suffering and defensive medicine would save 150 billion a year. We could insure the 16-17 million non-illegals, non-twenty something year olds that don’t want to spend money because they are healthy.

Next, you allow Insurance companies to cross State Lines opening up new markets. If people in NY could pay the same price as those in MS, Insurance costs would go down and become more affordable.

There’s two conservative ideas. I have more, but I’m sure you two need recess.

Actually if you cannot afford healthcare UHC technically will not do anything for you. That’s what Medicaid is for. Medicaid currently covers people on limited income.

On the donations side, by the way, insurance businesses donated nearly equal ammounts for 2008 campaigns to Republicans and Democrats. And so far Democrats have received more money for 2010 campaign from that industry. So your theory about partisan insurance companies bias is absolutely wrong.

Sounds like a libertarian paradise, everyone taking care of themselves, and not worrying about anyone else… at least not worrying anymore than to count how many people we need to step over because they lost a limb, don’t have work, and can’t afford insurance… or to guess at how many people that coughed in your vicinity today, may have had tuberculosis.
