Vacation Time Health Tips — DoctorSolve.com

With summer fast approaching, you may be planning to take vacation in a faraway place — where only the sun, the sky and your Facebook updates can reach you. While you’re out in the sun, or the city, depending on what type of vacation you’re looking for, here are some tips to help you stay healthy and experience your vacation to the fullest.

On the Plane…
If you need an airplane to get where you’re going, air travel companies recommend that you plan ahead, by making sure that your immunizations are current, in order to ensure that you do not contract any viruses during your trip. Airline travel companies additionally recommend that you reserve your seat according to your health needs. If you are prone to air sickness, reserve a seat by the wing, or if you experience motion sickness, opt for a larger plane to fly on and request a seat close to the wings with a window. If you have a prescription medication, especially if it is a seizure medication, Diabetes medication, heart disease medication, or epinephrine medication, ensure that you bring it onto the plane with you in your on-board luggage.

On Arrival…
Give yourself time to acclimatize, and allow your body to become used to the new time zone and environment. This may include helping your body to adjust to a new environment by wearing more sunscreen to combat heat and wearing clothing that is suitable for the weather. If you are visiting a tropical or otherwise mosquito infested area, wear bug repellent to prevent both mosquito bites and malaria. If you know that the area where you are going is an area where you are likely to acquire malaria, take a malaria-preventative drug before your trip.

At Mealtimes…
Avoid tap water, or any liquid that you aren’t sure is purified. Drinking contaminated water often leads to diarrhea, which can make vacation rather awkward, if not ruined, pretty quickly. There is no guarantee where you will find that water is not contaminated, so it’s easier to be safe than sorry and stick to carbonated beverages and bottled water instead. When you eat out at restaurants, do not eat your food unless it comes to you hot and well-cooked, in order to prevent stomach upset, possible food poisoning and digestive tract infection. Do not eat any raw fruit or vegetables that you have not washed yourself, as they may have been washed with contaminated water, if they were washed at all.

By following these helpful tips, you will be able to fully enjoy your vacation — without having to worry about any pressing health issues.

Rapid Fat Loss Tips for Women

Women who are constantly on-the-go sometimes do not have time to workout. Many women just want a few things they can do quickly to lose fat. There are a variety of fat loss tips but many of them are geared towards men.

As you know women are built different then men and have different bodies and body chemistry. Because of this it is important for them to have a way to lose weight that will take these things into consideration.

Because of this we decided to find the best of the quick fat loss ideas from several different sites. Here are the tips we came up with:

1. Cardio training — Interval Cardio training works a lot better than regularly boring cardio. The reason is that you can trigger your body’s metabolism work for you instead of against you. With the slower cardio your body gets used to the exercise after awhile and if you do not change the way you exercise the body will no longer respond. Instead interval Cardio combined with free weights will make sure that have the rapid fat loss you are seeking.

2. Eat more daily fiber — when you think of fiber you might think of older women but the truth is that everyone needs fiber. You can get it simply by eating more fruits and vegetables on a daily basis and looking at the foods that are low on the Glycemic Index. Adding more seeds and nuts to your diet will also help you have the rapid fat loss you are after.

3. Stop drinking soda – many women have convinced themselves that diet soda is helping them lose weight. However, there are studies that have been done that say that diet soda actually makes you gain weight. Diet soda can make you feel bloated and this does not promote the rapid fat loss that you are seeking.

4. Get in the habit of doing resistance training — most people combine resistance training 3 days a week with their cardio interval training. This is a good place to start and it also burns more calories. You will also burn fat.

5. Don’t skip breakfast – it is tempting to miss breakfast especially if you have to get your family off to school and your husband off to work. The tendency is either to grab something off a kid’s plate or to miss breakfast entirely. What you do when this happens is set up your body to have a sluggish metabolism for the rest of the day.

6. Drink plenty of water — you can decide what type of water to drink but it should be some type of filtered water, distilled or spring. Although you may have heard controversy over distilled water experts say that distilled water is really better for you because it doesn’t have the salts and the minerals in it. You can get these nutrients from food so you do not need it from water.

7. Get a good night’s sleep — many women do not sleep a full 6 hours and the body needs at least this amount to keep it moving. Your body burns fat when you are asleep and you are refreshed upon awakening.

8. Keep your stress levels low — by keeping a stress-free life for the most part you can ensure that you will get more benefit from your exercise. Low stress also promotes good cardio health, your body won’t store belly fat because it thinks it is starving and you will have a strong sense of well being. This will motivate you to do the exercise that is needed.

Tough Times Require Smart Health Spending

The number one cause of bankruptcy in the U.S. is sudden or unexpected health care costs. Even those who have insurance can find themselves in financial ruin as a result of the high-cost of health care, and the high co-pays that come along with them. In order to save yourself from financial ruin, we’ve compiled these money saving tips:

1. Switch to Generics – Generic medicines can offer you substantial savings. Most large retail pharmacies offer prices online. Price compare them with international internet pharmacies. They are another source of great savings.

2. Shop Around – Shop around for everything from x-rays and blood tests. You will find that prices vary from clinic to clinic. Number one is that you wouldn’t buy a car from the first dealership you visit, so why do the same with health care?

3. Negotiate – Always negotiate with the doctor. As a matter of fact, those who negotiate regularly have been known to receive savings of up to 10%. Most people would be surprised at the number of places that will give you a deal if you simply ask for it!

4. Pay in Advance – If you can afford to, paying in advance can also yield you a discount. Consider financing as a means to manage health care bills if paying in advance is not an option. By stretching payments out over time, you can turn a large bill into several smaller bills.

5. Check the bill – Check your bill over multiple times. Hospital bills often contain errors which can drive up the cost of your bill. Errors related to length of stay, type of room, phone usage, etc all add up quickly. If you find an error, contact the billing office immediately. Clerical errors happen all the time, even in hospitals! Dispute the bill immediately, and make sure that it is adjusted. No one wants to pay more than they need to.

These simple but helpful tips can be used as a basic guideline in managing health care expenses. Small details can make a huge difference to your financial health. Savings can be as high as 80% for prescription medications, 15% for clinical work, 10% by negotiating with the doctor, 5% for paying in advance, and triple-checking the bill from hospitals has been known to save people up to 25%!

Even those with medical insurance plans can benefit from these tips. By lowering co-pays, you also substantially reduce your overall health care costs. And just remember, you worked hard for your money. Wouldn’t you rather live life for you, rather than to pay for your medical expenses?

Affordable Health Insurance When You Lose Your Job: 4 Ways to Get it

1. Take advantage of The Consolidate Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA).

Advantages

o   You can  keep the coverage you had while employed.

o   You may continue the coverage for up to 18 months.

o   There is no extra premium if you have a preexisting condition.

Disadvantages

o   You (rather than your employ) must pay the premium.

o   The premium is expensive.

o   If you are healthy and do not have regular  doctor visits, you may be paying for more coverage than you need.

2. Purchase a temporary health insurance policy.

Advantages

o   There is a wide range of coverage.

o   The coverage is relatively inexpensive.

o   The deductible is relatively low.

o   You can choose your  doctors and hospitals.

o   You may only buy coverage to cover catastrophic medical problems (which could lower the premium).

 Disadvantages

o   Exclusions – Some policies do not cover preexisting conditions, such as pregnancy.

o   The deductible may apply each time  you use the policy.

o   With most policies, the coverage ends after 365 days, which could pose a problem if your job search extends for more than a year, or a if you take position with no health insurance.

o   Each time you use the coverage, it could constitute a preexisting condition, which could cause you to be denied for insurance in the future.

3. Purchase a permanent health insurance policy.

Advantages

o   You can keep the coverage as long as you need it. This may be beneficial if you have an extensive job search, take a job with no insurance coverage or become self-employed.

o   In some case, premiums may be lower than temporary policies.

Disadvantages

o   The premium may be expensive.

4.  Shop for a low cost health insurance policy.

Prices for the same coverage can vary by hundreds of dollars, so it pays to receive several personal health insurance price quotes.
